Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and God and Savior, Jesus Christ!
I pray that everyone is drawing near to Christ during these challenging days. Due to Covid-19, attendance at all services are limited to ten people. Fortunately, our 10 AM Sunday morning Divine Liturgies are now being streamed live on the Holy Apostles Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/holyapostlesgreenvillenc/ Also, the Divine Liturgy can be viewed later on the Facebook page or the parish website: https://www.holyapostlesgreenvillenc.org/
During this difficult time, we at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church are praying for protection from the Coronavirus. Each evening at 8 PM, faithful parishioners are praying The Prayer of Protection from the Coronavirus. These prayers are being offered every evening in our homes.
Part of this prayer asks our loving Lord to: “…deliver us from the impending threat of the coronavirus. Send His Angel to watch over us and protect us. Grant health and recovery to those suffering from this virus. Guide the hands of physicians, and preserve those who are healthy that we may continue to serve You in peace and glorify Your most honorable and majestic Name …”
The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops encourages us as follows:
… as your Bishops and Spiritual Fathers, we must be very clear and emphatic about one thing: it is not a sin to refrain from church services or sacraments during this time of pandemic. There is no doubt that the Church is the Body of Christ. However, it is the same community both within the walls of the sanctuary and beyond. We have always preached and believed this; now is the proper time that we are also called to practice it. … We must all obey the instructions of the medical professionals and State authorities and follow all the prescribed preventive measures in order to protect ourselves and others. … This will be our unique spiritual struggle during the days that lie ahead, as we journey through difficulty and darkness toward the Life and Light of the Risen Christ. May God bless, comfort, and strengthen you all.
Please feel free to contact me via telephone, text, or email with any needs or prayer requests.
Your servant in the Lord,
